Naked bikers: Now this for sure is a being had story...

Now this is what I have been talking about all along! All over the news has been coverage of the World Naked Bike ride, an international bicycle protest for freedom of the roads and bicycle awareness. The AP covered the story as follows:

Wearing masks, body paint and often little else, hundreds of cyclists shed their clothes and rode through the streets of major cities around the world on Saturday to promote cycling as an environmentally friendly mode of transport.
"It is time more motorists stripped off their armor plating and moved around more gently on this earth," said Duncan Blinkhorn, 45, one of the organizers of the World Naked Bike Ride on Saturday. "Bikes and naked bodies harm nobody. Car fumes and accidents kill tens of thousands every year in the UK alone and are driving us all to climate chaos."

More than 200 cyclists in various stages of undress took part in Brighton and Hove, sister cities on the southern coast of England, and similar events took place in the British cities of Manchester, York and Southhampton.

Organizers in Britain had been warned by police they could be prosecuted if officers received complaints. Cyclists followed advice from a civil liberties group and met with police chiefs beforehand to avoid problems. A naked rollerblader along for the ride

In Paris had no such luck — plainclothesed police hauled him away as other fully nude cyclists rolled free.

Scores of nude cyclists toured Madrid, Spain, others rode through a chilly rain in Vancouver, Canada.

In Mexico City, they stripped down for a ride to the capital's central square. Several wore nothing but Mexican "lucha libre" wrestling masks, and one was nude but for the ski mask, olive-green hat and pipe of Zapatista rebel leader Subcommander Marcos.

Me, I like it. I like it a lot. Hey, the truth is that there is a big difference between riding in traffic on your bike and cruising along in 2 tones of steel, glass, rubber and plastic. And no, this is not extreme, it is to me simply a representation of the truth: You are naked out there with nothing but your wits to protect you. I say it is high time to show some respect to the non-polluters, I say give your own legs a chance to get you there. Save a buck and try putting a little less carbon dioxide and chlorofluorocarbons out into the atmosphere. I mean hey, we are only human!

No, but they did in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Also in Latvia and (choke) Poland. I should say that there was a pretty cool biker community in Warsaw. I generally tend not to say anything good about the country bu they had some real riders. I liked them.

I would have done this, but I didn't know about. I think it is really cool.

For a woman, I don't think this would be a problem but for a man there are certain things which might not fit correctly without some bike shorts holding them together.

A little discomfort for a good cause.
