That about sums it up...

"I felt no pressure. I'm really stable psychologically. I think my Polish colleague was more stressed. I came here to win and break records. It's not just empty talk. I did it."

World champion Andrei Aramnau of Belarus after breaking three heavyweight world records in the men's 105 kg snatch Monday to win Belarus' first Olympic gold medal.

What about Yulia Nestsiarenka? Or do you mean Belarus' first men's gold medal? Or Belarus' first gold medal in this sport?

It was the first gold in Beijing. However, despite only competing as an independant country in three previous olympiads, before Beijing, Belarusian atheletes had recieved 47 olympic medals overall (6 Gold, 15 Silver and 26 Bronze) placing 40th place amoung all participant countries in the all-time Medal Standings.

I believe Belarus is currently in 23rd place in the overall medal count after taking 11 medals this year (1g, 3s and 7b). Also Andre Rybakov tied tied for the highest total in the 85 kilo class (and set a world record) but took the silver because he was 8 ounces heaver than Lu Wong.

Previous golds were won by:

Yekaterina Karsten won the gold in the single sculls in both Atlanta and in Sydney

Ellina Zvereva won the women's discus in Sydney

Yanina Karolchik Won the shot put in Sydney

Ihar Makarau won the gold in judo in Athens

And of course, Yulia Nesterenko won the women's 100m in Athens
